A practical way to review an existing SCADA system before upgrading it.
Start with the existing system
Record the controllers, communication links, operator screens, alarms and historical data already in use. Ask operators which faults are difficult to diagnose and which steps still depend on manual work.
Plan the change
Agree on the functions that must keep running during the upgrade. Test the new screens, alarms and data exchange before switching over. Keep a documented path back to the previous configuration.
Check the result
After commissioning, review alarm quality, data availability and operator feedback. Measure any change in downtime or cost against a defined baseline before publishing a result.
